PRAY FOR US POLITICIANS TO STOP STEALING PUBLIC MONEY; WE ARE THE PROBLEM OF THE COUNTRY - PETER OBI URGES NIGERIANS

 National Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has urged Nigerians to pray for political leaders, saying politicians and poor leadership are largely responsible for the country’s challenges.

Obi made the remarks on Sunday during a visit to Koinonia Global, the ministry led by Apostle Joshua Selman.

The former Anambra State governor said Nigeria has the resources needed to prosper, but argued that the country’s problems are mainly linked to the way it is governed and how public resources are managed.

He asked members of the congregation to remember politicians in their prayers, saying, “I believe that people like you are the ones keeping our country. The only thing I can ask all of you who are gathered here, because I know he’s praying for the country, is that you remember us, the politicians, in your prayers.”

Obi then acknowledged the role of political leaders in the country’s difficulties, stating, “We are the problem of the country. There’s nothing wrong with Nigeria. What is wrong in Nigeria is the leadership, the politicians God created in this country.”

He called for prayers that politicians would develop the conscience to use public funds for the benefit of citizens rather than diverting them.

“Let God touch our hearts to use public money for public good. Let God touch us to stop ste@ling. That is why people are suffering here,” he said.

Obi maintained that Nigeria’s wealth could be used to significantly improve the lives of its citizens if properly invested.

“If we use the wealth of this nation and invest it, it will go a long way. So remember us in your prayers,” he added.

He also cautioned Nigerians against making their prayers for politicians partisan, stressing that every political leader should be included.

“Don’t say one is good, the other one is bad. All of us, remember all of us in your prayers, because the problem of the country can be solved. I assure you of that,” Obi said.
