31-YEAR-OLD NYSC MEMBER ARRESTED OVER S+XUAL ABUS£ OF A 6-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN DELTA STATE

A 31-year-old NYSC member serving as a teacher at a private school off Jakpa Road in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State has been arrested and arraigned in court over the alleged def+lement of a 6-year-old girl. 

According to the girl, the NYSC member allegedly took her to his apartment within the school premises on three occasions when her mother arrived late to pick her up from school, where he allegedly s+xually ab¥sed her. 

She further alleged that he thre@tened to k+ll her if she disclosed the incidents to her mother. She claimed that he also used a white handkerchief, which he allegedly used to clean her bl%od, to frighten her into keeping silent. 

A medical examination reportedly confirmed that the girl’s hymen had been broken and that she sustained a rupture to her vulva. 

A Delta-based activist who took up the case disclosed that the suspect was arraigned earlier today before High Court 1 in Effurun and subsequently remanded at the Warri Prison in Okere. 

The case was adjourned until September 18, 2026, pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
