OGONI YOUTH LEADER TEDDY GIANEN URGES FG TO INVOLVE HOST COMMUNITIES IN OIL RESUMPTION TALKS

‎The President of the Ogoni Oil and Gas Host Community Youth Association, Teddy Gianen, has called for the active involvement of host communities in ongoing discussions with the Federal Government over the proposed resumption of oil exploration in Ogoniland.
‎
‎Gianen made the call as Senator Olaka Nwogu, representing Rivers South-East Senatorial District, leads the Harmonization Committee of the Ogoni Dialogue Committee (ODC) in engagements with the Federal Government on the proposed resumption of oil exploration in Ogoniland.
‎
‎The President stressed the importance of carrying host communities along in the dialogue process, particularly on issues that could affect their land, environment, livelihoods and future.
‎
‎He maintained that the voices and concerns of the people must be adequately represented in any discussions or decisions concerning the return of oil exploration to Ogoniland.
‎
‎The call comes amid ongoing engagements over the proposed resumption of oil activities in the Ogoni area, with community participation and stakeholder consultation remaining important issues in the dialogue process.
