Senior Pastor of House on the Rock Church, Paul Adefarasin, has stirred reactions after speaking about the state of Nigeria’s economy during a church sermon on May 17. 

While preaching, the clergyman said, “Nigeria is d+ad, let’s not deceive ourselves. Once you are counting in naira, you are p%or.” 

He went on to reflect on the value of money in past decades, saying, “I was not born p%or cause my father was earning up to like 18 thousand naira in the early 80s and 90s.” 

According to him, the value of the naira has dropped significantly over the years compared to what it used to be decades ago.

 “Do you know what a billion naira was then when I was 15–16? It was 2.8 billion dollars and we are taking it cause we live in the now, we don’t study history and don’t even research data,” he added. 

The preacher added that many people fail to understand how much the nation’s economic value has changed over the years because they focus only on present realities instead of comparing historical data.

Youths in Onne community in Eleme LGA, Rivers State, reportedly raided several shrines in the community on Monday in an effort to put an end to what they described as alleged demonic and ritual activities. ICPC UNCOVERS ANOTHER FAKE AGENCY, TINUBU ORDERS ARREST

President Bola Tinubu has ordered the arrest of one George Buchi Nwabueze and suspended three permanent secretaries after the anti graft agency ICPC uncovered another fake agency operating within the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. ICPC Chairman Musa Aliyu, made this known after briefing the President for the second consecutive day this week.   He says the agency , National Brands Development and Made-in-Nigeria Special Project Office was uncovered while investigating the fake Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council. The Aleto community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State has renewed its call for transparency, accountability and justice over funds allegedly allocated to landowners and host communities connected to Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals, Fertiliser and Super-Packaging companies. Aleto is one of the six host communities to Indorama Eleme. The community says it donated about 159 hectares of land out of approximately 369 hectares used for the development of the company, with the land forming part of the equity arrangement involving the host communities. According to members of the community, families that surrendered their farmlands for the project have, since 2012, continued to demand a clear account of funds and benefits allegedly meant for landowners and other beneficiaries.
