TINUBU SHOULD START A SCHOOL OF POLITICS BECAUSE HE HAS SHOWN HE IS THE OWNER OF THE GAME - JOURNALIST REUBEN ABATI

Veteran journalist and former presidential aide, Reuben Abati, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has proven himself to be “the owner of the game” following the outcome of the APC presidential primary.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Monday, Abati said Tinubu’s reported 11 million votes in the party primary sent a strong political message to opposition parties ahead of the 2027 general election.

“I think we should get to a point in this country where we should start a Tinubu school of politics and strategy, because what President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done over the weekend is to show that he’s the owner of the game,” Abati said.

He noted that Tinubu’s challenger, Stanley Osifo, reportedly secured just over 1,000 votes compared to the president’s over 11 million votes, describing the outcome as a “demonstration effect” to opposition figures such as Atiku Abubakar and other contenders.

According to Abati, the implication is that opposition parties would now have to secure more votes than the figures already recorded for Tinubu within his own party.

However, the journalist also questioned the credibility of the voting figures, pointing out that basic vote counting appeared difficult during some APC primaries held over the weekend.

“And yet during the various events that you have seen over the weekend, to even count 1,2,3, basic arithmetic, which you start primary school with, was a problem for that particular political party,” he said.

Gospel music minister Asu Ekiye has offered clarification on the circumstances surrounding the dissolution of his 28-year marriage, following numerous calls and messages seeking to understand what led to the separation. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 101-year-old great-grandmother for dealing in illicit drugs and also intercepted cocaine concealed in edible cassava flour popularly known as fufu. In a rare and startling development, NDLEA operatives on Saturday, August, arrested a 101-year-old woman, Esther Ogunmabo, in Ilisan, Ogun state, with retail sachets of skunk, a strain of cannabis weighing 90 grams, which she claims she sells to locals. The centenarian told operatives that she resorted to the illicit drug trade after her provisions shop was razed by fire, adding that one of her daughters, who resides in Lagos, arranges the supply of the substance to her every four days, which she in turn sold in bits. The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), has, however, directed that the suspect be granted bail and placed on counselling because of her advanced age, while her daughter has been arrested.

The Aleto community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State has renewed its call for transparency, accountability and justice over funds allegedly allocated to landowners and host communities connected to Indorama Eleme Petrochemicals, Fertiliser and Super-Packaging companies. Aleto is one of the six host communities to Indorama Eleme. The community says it donated about 159 hectares of land out of approximately 369 hectares used for the development of the company, with the land forming part of the equity arrangement involving the host communities.
