FORMER DEPUTY SENATE PRESIDENT OVIE OMO-AGEGE DECLARES SUPPORT FOR PETER OBI, SAYS APC ABANDONED HIM AND HIS 240,000 DELTA SUPPORTS.

Evangelist Mike Bamiloye, founder of Mount Zion Faith Ministries, has defended the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, amid backlash over the cleric’s recent remarks on Nigeria’s worsening insecurity.

Adeboye reignited debate on Tuesday after resharing a video originally recorded in November 2025, in which he urged the Federal Government to give service chiefs a 90-day ultimatum to end terrorism or resign. The clip sparked mixed reactions, with some accusing him of discouraging planned protests against insecurity and others questioning his political stance.

Reacting via his official Instagram page on Wednesday, Bamiloye slammed critics and bloggers for misrepresenting Adeboye’s position. He stressed that the 84-year-old pastor has consistently spoken against societal evils.

Bamiloye directly addressed calls for Adeboye to lead street demonstrations:
“And for all those who are expecting an 84-year-old man, servant of God, to lead a protest against a government, this does not make sense by virtue of his age and by the mandate of his calling”.

He also clarified Adeboye’s involvement in a 2020 march against insecurity during the administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari. According to Bamiloye, it was not a personal political stunt but a coordinated response directed by the Christian Association of Nigeria and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria for churches to protest insecurity.

“The major responsibility of the Church of God is to continually pray for the peace of our nation and the intervention of God in the government,” Bamiloye added.

The RCCG Public Relations team also issued a statement reiterating that a viral photo of Adeboye holding a placard was from a 2020 peaceful prayer walk under Buhari, not a political demonstration against former President Goodluck Jonathan. The church maintained that Adeboye remains politically neutral and encourages members across parties to exercise civic responsibility without institutional endorsement.

Bamiloye’s defense comes as Nigeria faces renewed public pressure on religious leaders to take a more visible role in addressing kidnappings, banditry, and farmer-herder conflicts.
