"RIVERS LGA CHAIRMAN, DR. THOMAS BARIERE, IS THE REDEEMER SENT BY GOD." BISHOP THOMAS NUKA SAYS
The Bishop of the Lutheran Church of Nigeria, Rivers Diocese, Bishop Thomas Nuka Gbarato, has described the Executive Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Dr. Thomas Bariere, as a "redeemer sent by God" for his role in restoring peace across communities in the area.
The Bishop made the remark during a courtesy visit to the Secretary of Council, Khana Local Government Area, Pst. Israel Yeekpa Claudius, CBC, where he led a delegation from the Lutheran Church of Nigeria, Rivers Diocese.
Speaking during the visit, Bishop Gbarato congratulated Pst. Israel Yeekpa Claudius on his reappointment as Secretary of Council, describing it as a well-deserved recognition of his dedication, commitment, and service to the people of Khana. He also commended the Executive Chairman, Dr. Thomas Bariere, for reappointing him to continue serving in the administration.
The cleric praised the chairman's leadership, stating that the return of peace to Khana has enabled many displaced residents, including people from his Bua-Boue community, to return to their homes. He further expressed gratitude to Dr. Bariere for supporting the reprinting and reproduction of the Khana Bible, describing the gesture as a significant contribution to the Christian community.
In his response, the Secretary of Council, Pst. Israel Yeekpa Claudius, thanked Bishop Gbarato and the church delegation for the visit and their prayers. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Khana Local Government Council, under the leadership of Dr. Thomas Bariere, to continue working with the Church to promote peace, moral values, community development, and the overall wellbeing of the people of Khana.
The visit further highlighted the collaboration between the Khana Local Government Council and faith-based organizations in advancing peace, unity, and sustainable development across the local government area.
