THOUSANDS GATHER IN KAANI, OGONILAND, TO BID FAREWELL TO BELOVED EDUCATOR WHO REPORTEDLY TAUGHT OVER 10,000 CHILDREN

The entire Kaani community in Ogoniland, Rivers State, came to a standstill as residents, former pupils, well-wishers, and dignitaries gathered to bid a final farewell to the late Mrs. Sarah Nsikan Johnson, the founder of Albright Group of Schools and one of the community's most respected educators.

Her burial attracted widespread attention both within and outside the community, with thousands of people travelling from different parts of Nigeria and abroad to pay their last respects. The event also generated significant engagement on social media, where tributes and memories of her life and legacy continued to pour in.

Many former students described Mrs. Johnson as a dedicated teacher and mentor who devoted her life to education. They recalled how she nurtured and inspired generations of pupils, with many estimating that she taught and guided more than 10,000 children during her decades of service as a headmistress and educator.

Mourners noted that her commitment to academic excellence and moral values helped shape countless professionals and leaders across various sectors, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations.

The burial ceremony has become one of the most talked-about events in the area, with photos and videos from the occasion continuing to trend on Facebook and other social media platforms as tributes to the late education icon keep pouring in.

Thousands of residents of Port Harcourt have expressed frustration after allegedly losing millions of naira to investment platforms known as NRC and M-TAG, which many now describe as a Ponzi scheme. The video, recorded during a press conference held in late June 2026, showed Adeyemi defending his claim to the leadership of the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council while challenging the position of the Presidency and the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, FemiGbajabiamila. FORMER CHINESE OFFICIAL WHO PLEADED GUILTY SENTENCED TO DEATH FOR ACCEPTING OVER $325 MILLION BRIBES

A court in eastern China has sentenced former Nanjing city official Yang Youlin, 69, to d+ath after convicting him of accepting more than 2.2 billion yuan ($325 million/£243 million) in bribes over a 30-year period.  Yang, who held various government positions in Nanjing between 1993 and 2023, was also found guilty of embezzlement, abuse of power, and money laundering. RIVERS GOVERNOR SIMINALAYI FUBARA PRESENTS 2026 BUDGET, CHARTS PATH TO ECONOMIC GROWTH

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has presented the 2026 Appropriation Bill of ₦1.854 trillion to the Rivers State House of Assembly for consideration and approval. The budget, titled "Budget of Resilience for Growth and Development," represents a 24.49 per cent increase over the 2025 budget.  Governor Fubara attributed the increase to improved allocations from the Federation Account Allocation Committee and sustained economic growth. The proposed budget projects internally generated revenue of ₦487.6 billion, FAAC allocation of about ₦936 billion, and capital receipts of about ₦382.4 billion.  On the expenditure side, the governor proposed ₦413.1 billion for recurrent spending.
