BREAKING NEWS: THOUSANDS OF NIGERIANS ALLEGEDLY DEFRAUD£D IN TMT TRAVELS & TOURS SCANDAL

The Director of TMT Travels & Tours Ltd has reportedly been arrested in connection with serious allegations of visa fraud and obtaining money under false pretences.

According to reports, several individuals have allegedly paid between ₦1.5 million, ₦2 million, ₦3 million and more for promised work visas, which they claim were not delivered.

On August 31, 2026, social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) reportedly gathered more than 200 alleged complainants and accompanied them to the police, where they submitted statements, payment records and other documents relating to their complaints.

The TMT Travels & Tours director is reportedly currently in police custody in Abuja as investigations continue.

Meanwhile, there have also been calls online for the police to question content creators Apama and Rolex, amid allegations that they may have promoted the company.

However, there is currently no established evidence presented here that Apama or Rolex were involved in any alleged fraud. Their role may simply have been that of content creators or business promoters. Any involvement, if any, should be determined by investigators based on evidence.

The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), has, however, directed that the suspect be granted bail and placed on counselling because of her advanced age, while her daughter has been arrested.

WHATSAPP TO START CHARGING NIGERIA BUSINESSES FROM OCTOBER 2026

Businesses using Meta’s WhatsApp Business Platform will begin paying for certain customer messages from October 1, 2026, following a new pricing structure announced by the company. The new policy applies primarily to organisations that use the WhatsApp Business Platform, formerly known as the WhatsApp Business API, to handle customer communications at scale. However, regular WhatsApp users and small businesses using the standard WhatsApp Business app are not the primary targets of the new charges. Under the revised pricing model, fees will vary depending on the type of message businesses send to customers. A coalition of six opposition political parties has proposed the creation of a “government of national competence” that would serve a single four-year transition term if the coalition succeeds in the 2027 general election. King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, the traditional ruler of Uganda’s Tooro Kingdom and recognised by Guinness World Records as the world’s youngest reigning monarch, has d+ed at the age of 34. The Ogoni Dialogue Committee, ODC, has denied claims that it influenced the allocation of 40 job slots at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, or played any role in the award of government contracts. Speaking at a press conference in Port Harcourt, ODC Chairman, Professor Don Baridam, said the 40 employment opportunities were proposed as part of confidence-building measures in the Ogoni dialogue with the Federal Government. He, however, stressed that the committee neither selected nor recruited the beneficiaries, saying NNPCL relied on its existing recruitment database to identify qualified Ogoni applicants. Professor Baridam acknowledged that some ODC members submitted names for consideration but said the nominations did not determine the final selection.
