EBONYI STATE GOVERNOR, FRANCIS NWIFURU HAS THREATENED TO SACK ANY COUNCIL CHAIRMAN THAT FAILED TO WIN HIS AREA FOR THE RULING-APC IN 2027
Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has threatened to sack any local government chairman who fails to deliver his council area to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
Nwifuru issued the warning on Tuesday in Abakaliki while inaugurating the newly elected chairmen and vice chairmen of the state’s 13 local government areas.
The governor said, “Any chairman who fails to win his council will be removed from office and replaced with a councillor”.
“I want this information to be on the headlines of newspapers because, as politicians, we would not speak in secret.” he said.
He warned that the chairmen must work to secure victory for the APC in their respective areas, adding that anyone who choose to sleep and allow others to take their areas would be removed.
Nwifuru urged the council chairmen to prevent the opposition from gaining ground in their areas and charged them to do everything within their power to deliver 100 per cent votes for the APC in 2027.
He also cautioned the vice chairmen against rivalry, urging them to support their chairmen and likening their positions to spare tyres inside the car boot.
The governor said the vice chairmen should only step in when their chairmen are unable to function, warning them against listening to gossip or bad advice from friends that could damage their relationship with their chairmen.
Responding on behalf of the chairmen, Afikpo LGA Chairman, Timothy Nwachi, thanked the governor and party stakeholders, pledging that they would justify the confidence reposed in them and ensure that the APC records a landslide victory in 2027.
Among the newly inaugurated chairmen are Osborne Umahi, son of Works Minister David Umahi, who will head Ohaozara LGA, and Chidi Nwode, younger brother of Governor Nwifuru’s wife, who will head Ikwo LGA.
