POOR NIGERIANS ARE THE BIGGEST BENEFICIARIES OF TINUBU'S REFORMS - PRESIDENCY CLAIMS

Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, Daniel Bwala, has argued that the biggest beneficiaries of the administration’s policies are low-income Nigerians.

Speaking during an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time on Tuesday, Bwala pointed to programmes such as the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiative, and healthcare interventions as examples of policies designed to improve the lives of ordinary citizens.

According to him, more than one million students have benefited from NELFUND, helping many young Nigerians who might otherwise struggle to access higher education. He also said the government’s push for CNG-powered transportation is already making a difference, although many citizens are calling for greater investment in the sector.

Bwala further highlighted healthcare measures, including support for cesarean sections and subsidies for dialysis treatment, describing them as initiatives that primarily serve less privileged Nigerians.

He maintained that the direct impact of the Tinubu administration’s policies is being felt most by poor citizens, arguing that the programmes are targeted at addressing the needs of everyday Nigerians rather than the wealthy.

In a significant legal victory for the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has unanimously dismissed the appeal filed by the Turaki Group challenging the judgment of the Federal High Court (FHC), Ibadan, which recognized the Abdulrahman-led PDP Caretaker Committee. The appellate court upheld the earlier decision of the Federal High Court, which had, in January this year, declined to recognize the executive produced by the Turaki Group’s Ibadan convention and instead affirmed the legitimacy of the Abdulrahman-led Caretaker Committee. The Court of Appeal has upheld a high court order nullifying the Rivers APC ward, local government, and state congresses that produced the Tony Okocha-led exco, which is loyal to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.  Okocha had filed an appeal at the appeal court against the ex parte order of the high court which restrained the APC from conducting its congresses in the state, arguing that the high court had no jurisdiction in the matter and, as such, was not empowered to make the said order. However, the appellate court, in a decision delivered yesterday by Justice Elfreida Williams-Dawodu JCA, affirmed the jurisdiction of the high court in issuing that order and threw out the appeal for want of competence.
