Betting Is Not the Way to Financial Fortune, Stop Wasting Your Destiny — Bishop Oyedepo Tells Youths 

Founder of Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo, has warned young people against relying on sports betting as a means of becoming wealthy, describing it as a dangerous distraction from genuine success.

Addressing his congregation, the cleric urged youths to stay away from betting and remain committed to honest work and patience.

“Young people, 9jabet is not the way to financial fortune. Stop wasting your destiny. Stop wasting your destiny. Stop wasting your destiny,” he said.

Emphasising that lasting success takes time, Oyedepo added, “It may be slow, but it’s sure.”

He also reflected on his personal journey, crediting his mother’s faith for leading him to Christ at the age of 15. Recalling how he honoured her later in life, he said, “My mother’s faith led me to Christ at 15. When I turned 60, I got her a car that was delivered to her home in the U.S. She wept and said, ‘How could a car come to me from Africa?’ She d+ed at 92.”

He concluded his message with a call for young people to rethink their choices, saying, “You better wake up.”

Businesses using Meta’s WhatsApp Business Platform will begin paying for certain customer messages from October 1, 2026, following a new pricing structure announced by the company. The new policy applies primarily to organisations that use the WhatsApp Business Platform, formerly known as the WhatsApp Business API, to handle customer communications at scale. However, regular WhatsApp users and small businesses using the standard WhatsApp Business app are not the primary targets of the new charges. The Ogoni Dialogue Committee, ODC, has denied claims that it influenced the allocation of 40 job slots at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, or played any role in the award of government contracts. Speaking at a press conference in Port Harcourt, ODC Chairman, Professor Don Baridam, said the 40 employment opportunities were proposed as part of confidence-building measures in the Ogoni dialogue with the Federal Government. He, however, stressed that the committee neither selected nor recruited the beneficiaries, saying NNPCL relied on its existing recruitment database to identify qualified Ogoni applicants. Professor Baridam acknowledged that some ODC members submitted names for consideration but said the nominations did not determine the final selection.
