38-YEAR-OLD SOLDIER JAILED FOR 12 YEARS AFTER PLOTTING ONLINE TO R@PE TWO GIRLS, AGE 7 AND 10 MONTHS OLD BABY

A 38-year-old Household Cavalry soldier, Graham Jarvis, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison after plotting to s+xually ab¥se two children, aged seven and 10 months. 

Jarvis struck an agreement with a woman he met online to ab¥se her children and planned to travel from his barracks in central London to her home in Wales. However, the woman was actually an undercover police officer posing as their mother, leading to his arrest. 

He was convicted at Southwark Crown Court on two counts of attempting to arrange the commission of a s+x offence. Jarvis, who lived in barracks in Hyde Park, denied the charges but was found guilty at trial and subsequently dismissed from the Army. 

Judge Adam Hiddleston said it was “not a case of fantasy”, stressing that Jarvis was serious about r@ping the children. He said Jarvis believed the children were real and intended to meet and r@pe them with the assistance of the woman he believed was their mother. 

The court heard Jarvis began communicating with the woman in January 2024 and told her he was “into girls”. He began arranging to visit her home in February but was arrested that month. 

During their conversations, Jarvis asked about the seven-year-old’s s+xual experiences and was told she had previously been ab¥sed by two men. He also asked the woman to assist him in carrying out the planned offence against the younger child. 

His lawyer, Lisa Wilson, said Jarvis was “at a low ebb” during a “traumatic period” when he committed the offences. 

The judge warned that Jarvis may remain a risk to children and ordered him to serve at least eight years in prison, followed by two years on licence.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has clarified that it does not have direct and absolute regulatory oversight over unbranded palm oil, fufu and other traditionally packaged staple foods sold in open markets.  NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, disclosed this on Monday while briefing journalists on the agency’s efforts to combat suspected counterfeit, adulterated and unsafe products across Nigeria.  Adeyeye revealed that NAFDAC received 225 complaints about suspected counterfeit products in August, noting that the agency gets more than 200 complaints from Nigerians every month through its various reporting channels.  “We received over 200 complaints from Nigerians monthly; in August we received 225 calls through NAFDAC complaint channel,” she said, according to NAN.  She urged Nigerians to report suspected counterfeiters through NAFDAC’s official complaint channels instead of relying solely on social m...

The Nigerian government has reportedly entered a secret ceasefire agreement with the Boko Haram faction led by Bakura Doro, according to The New Humanitarian, in a development said to have contributed to a relative lull in vi%lence across parts of northeastern Nigeria since June.  Sources with links to senior Boko Haram members told the publication that the truce was connected to negotiations for the release of more than 300 civilians abd¥cted in March from Ngoshe in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.  The victims spent about 95 days in captivity before their release, which the government described as the result of an intelligence-led operation involving Operation Hadin Kai and the State Security Service (SSS).
