WHEN I BECOME PRESIDENT, I'LL SPEND MY SALLAH IN SOKOTO, KANO OR WITH SULTAN OF SOKOTO - PETER OBI

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC, Peter Obi, has shared where he would prefer to spend the Muslim festival of Sallah if elected President of Nigeria.

Obi noted that President Bola Tinubu, who is a Muslim, spends his Sallah celebrations in Lagos State, but said he would choose to celebrate the occasion in either Sokoto or Kano State.

According to him, he would spend Sallah with the Sultan of Sokoto if given the opportunity to lead the country, or alternatively celebrate in Kano.

“President Tinubu, who is a Muslim, spends his Sallah in Lagos State. If I’m President, I’ll spend my Sallah in Sokoto State with the Sultan or in Kano State,” Obi said.

Obi’s statement has since drawn attention to the symbolic importance of presidential visits and participation in major religious and cultural celebrations across Nigeria.

Felicia, a 500-level Chemistry student, was arrested by the police following the incident, which occurred on Friday, August 28, 2026. WHATSAPP TO START CHARGING NIGERIA BUSINESSES FROM OCTOBER 2026

Businesses using Meta’s WhatsApp Business Platform will begin paying for certain customer messages from October 1, 2026, following a new pricing structure announced by the company. The new policy applies primarily to organisations that use the WhatsApp Business Platform, formerly known as the WhatsApp Business API, to handle customer communications at scale. However, regular WhatsApp users and small businesses using the standard WhatsApp Business app are not the primary targets of the new charges. Under the revised pricing model, fees will vary depending on the type of message businesses send to customers. A 31-year-old mother, Kenya Glasgow, and her two-year-old daughter, Kennedi, have been k+lled by lightning during a thunderstorm in Margate, south-east Florida. Kenya was reportedly walking along Northwest 1st Street with her two-year-old twins on Sunday when lightning struck shortly before 2:30 p.m. A resident who found the mother and daughter lying on the sidewalk immediately called 911. A 23-year-old Omaha man, Deron Lewis-Payne, has been sentenced to 10 years and one month in federal prison after pleading guilty to robbing a bank and using, carrying and brandishing a fir+arm during the crime. Lewis-Payne robbed an i3Bank branch in Omaha, Nebraska, on February 10. He reportedly entered the bank, pointed a g¥n at tellers and threatened them before escaping with approximately $9,175. The case has attracted attention because investigators discovered that Lewis-Payne had used ChatGPT while preparing for the r%bbery. According to investigators, his phone contained evidence of searches related to police response times and firearm-related questions. The Ogoni Dialogue Committee, ODC, has denied claims that it influenced the allocation of 40 job slots at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, or played any role in the award of government contracts. Speaking at a press conference in Port Harcourt, ODC Chairman, Professor Don Baridam, said the 40 employment opportunities were proposed as part of confidence-building measures in the Ogoni dialogue with the Federal Government.
