Marriage Counsellor Simon Asemota has shared his thoughts on why some marriages fail, stressing the importance of learning from other families and being intentional about making a marriage work.  Speaking on ‘Why Marriages Crack’ on the Conversation Podcast on NTA Network, Asemota said,  “It’s not just your parent marriage but other families are also your teachers. So I started learning from those families then from there I made up my mind that when I am married, my marriage is going to work.”  He also noted that men may sometimes move on quickly because they may not be as emotionally attached to a new relationship, saying,  “There is tendency for you to forget especially as a man. The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC, Peter Obi, has shared where he would prefer to spend the Muslim festival of Sallah if elected President of Nigeria. Obi noted that President Bola Tinubu, who is a Muslim, spends his Sallah celebrations in Lagos State, but said he would choose to celebrate the occasion in either Sokoto or Kano State. According to him, he would spend Sallah with the Sultan of Sokoto if given the opportunity to lead the country, or alternatively celebrate in Kano. “President Tinubu, who is a Muslim, spends his Sallah in Lagos State. Four siblings in Mechanicsville, upstate New York, were k+lled by their mother and grandmother in a horrific incident that also saw the two women take their own lives.  The victims were Harper Harmon, 13; Hudson Harmon, 11; Gracelynn Harmon, 10; and Gavin Harmon, 10. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has clarified that it does not have direct and absolute regulatory oversight over unbranded palm oil, fufu and other traditionally packaged staple foods sold in open markets.  NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, disclosed this on Monday while briefing journalists on the agency’s efforts to combat suspected counterfeit, adulterated and unsafe products across Nigeria.  Adeyeye revealed that NAFDAC received 225 complaints about suspected counterfeit products in August, noting that the agency gets more than 200 complaints from Nigerians every month through its various reporting channels.  “We received over 200 complaints from Nigerians monthly; in August we received 225 calls through NAFDAC complaint channel,” she said, according to NAN.  She urged Nigerians to report suspected counterfeiters through NAFDAC’s official complaint channels instead of relying solely on social m...

The presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Prince Adewole Adebayo, has promised to reduce the prices of petrol, cooking gas and aviation fuel, Jet A1, to ₦200 per litre if elected president in 2027. A Nigerian man, Olusegun Onidare, has been arrested and charged over alleged s£xual assault of two women in separate incidents that occurred in the municipality of Brampton, Ontario, Canada. Fubara Signs ₦1.84tn Rivers 2026 Budget Into Law Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has signed the state’s ₦1.84 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, hours after the State House of Assembly passed it. The budget was unanimously approved by 26 lawmakers after the Assembly reviewed provisions in Fubara’s original proposal, including reducing the proposed ₦6 billion allocation to PAMO University of Medical Sciences pending further accountability measures. The budget is expected to fund development projects and other government programmes across Rivers State. The Assembly said it runs until September 2, 2027, with funding expected from ₦487.6 billion in internally generated revenue, ₦936.052 billion from FAAC, ₦50 billion in loans and ₦25 billion from asset sales. Fubara described the signing as a “breath of fresh air” and the beginning of a new chapter of unity and progress in Rivers State.

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has recounted how he ventured into the sale of akara and bread, saying the business generated not less than ₦10 million for him every month. “We still have that shop there, and I started selling akara and bread. We were doing bread and akara burger. We opened the bread and put akara in it for you,” Eno said. He explained that workers heading to work would buy the akara and bread in the morning, alongside coffee from a coffee shop he also started. “People going to work at ExxonMobil would buy it in the morning and take coffee. We started a coffee shop, and then they would take it every morning,” he said. According to him, the akara and bread business became a significant source of income, generating at least ₦10 million monthly. “That akara business and that bread used to give me not less than ten million naira, not less than that,” Eno said.

The Rivers State Police Command has dismissed the officers allegedly involved in the shooting and killing of Anthony Obodo. The affected officers were paraded by the Command today following investigations into the incident. They are also reportedly set to be charged to court to face prosecution over their alleged involvement in Obodo’s death. Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, has said he would become the first target if President Bola Tinubu loses the 2027 presidential election to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or Peter Obi.
